Origen Gran Reserva Carménère Viña Chocalán - Vino Tinto Gran Reserva Valle del Maipo Chile

Origin Gran Reserva Carménère

85% Carménère, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot.

$6,609

Born in Melipilla, Maipo Valley, this Carménère Origen is the product of a unique coastal terroir, with granite and clay soils. The influence of the nearby Pacific Ocean and the Maipo River results in mists and fresh breezes, conditions that allow for slow and complete ripening, essential for this varietal to reveal its full potential.

The manual harvest takes place between the last week of April and the first week of May. Its winemaking includes a 7-day cold maceration to intensify color and aromas. 80% of the wine is then aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, a process that gives it complexity, toasted notes, and an elegant structure.

This wine shows aromas of black fruit, black pepper, and vanilla, with toasted notes and an earthy background that gives it a complex character. On the palate, it is balanced, with a rich texture, flavors of blackberry and cardamom, and soft, velvety tannins that lead to a long finish. It is suggested to serve between 15 and 16°C, ideal to accompany charquicán with a fried egg or blood sausage empanadas.
