MAIPO VALLEY

Located on a virgin strip of land between the Andes mountain range and the Pacific Coast, Viña Chocalán boasts 75 hectares of land that benefit from a unique microclimate in the Maipo Valley.

Situated just 35 km in a straight line from the Pacific Ocean, with cool evenings, the sea breeze creates a contrast in temperatures between day and night, allowing for slow fruit ripening. The vineyard is frost-free, and 30% of the vines are planted on slopes with northwest sun exposure. Shaped like an amphitheater, the plantings have different sun exposures for 300 days a year. The soils on the slopes are calcareous and well-drained.

In addition, this high maritime influence, plus the cool climate conditions influenced by the Maipo River, located 1 km from the property, allows this terroir to produce high-quality red wines with intense, fresh colors and natural acidity.

The Maipo white wines used for our Reserva range are planted near the river using clonal material that allows for maximum varietal expression, as well as careful and appropriate vineyard management for the harvest.
