85% Carménère, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec
Vitrum Carménère is a wine that captures the complexity and elegance of this grape variety from the coastal terroir of the Maipo Valley. It comes from granite slopes with decomposing rocks and piedmont of sandy loam texture. The climate, with its morning fog due to the Pacific influence, allows for a slow ripening, ideal for developing the aromatic complexity of the variety.
Harvesting is done manually during the first week of May. Its winemaking is a meticulous process: after a cold maceration, the wine is aged for 14 months in first, second, and third-use French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation takes place and full integration is achieved.
Typical of the variety, it presents a dark and deep carmine color. On the nose, it displays complex aromas of black fruits such as blackberries and plums, red bell pepper, and chocolate, with soft spicy notes. On the palate, it has a soft and silky texture, with firm and ripe tannins. It is a concentrated wine, with plenty of black fruit and a long, fresh, and persistent finish. It is recommended to decant and serve between 15 to 16°C, ideal for a beef stew with potatoes or a lomo saltado.
