LOVE AND LEGACY

And that is how Alexia and Guillermo were born… a tribute from love to our parents and founders of Viña Chocalán.

Alexia and Guillermo are unique wines. Special ones. Just as special as our parents were to us. Making these two blends is not an easy task. It takes hard work and several hours to achieve the task of reflecting the personality of our parents in these wines. We walk the vineyards selecting parcels that will later reflect their character when blending the wine. The whole process is well taken care of, so we can finally make these iconic award winning blends.

And that is how Alexia and Guillermo were born… a tribute from love to our parents and founders of Viña Chocalán.

Our Icon Alexia is a tribute to our mother and grandmother, a sweet and affectionate woman, with unconditional love for her family. This wine is an amusing but very elegant blend, where Cabernet Franc and Merlot generate a perfect balance between character and freshness. Grapes from vines over 20 years old, selected and harvested by hand with the greatest care, just as our mother took care of us.

Vintage

First vintage: 2011

2019 vintage: 74% Cabernet Franc, 17% Merlot, 5% Carménère, 4% Petit Verdot.

Ageing

100% of the wine was aged during 18 months in new french oak barrels.

Winemaker’s comments

Brilliant and deep ruby red color. Alexia 2019 opens with a powerful and expressive nose, full of juicy red fresh fruit , cherry licorice, menthol , layers of dark chocolate and spices. Great character and structure in the mouth, it is a bodied wine with a Good volume. Soft and firm tannins that provides a high potential of ageing.

Suggestions

Decanting is recommended. Serve at 16ºC.

Named in honor of our founder, father and grandfather, a honorable and visionary man. Hardworking and innovative. A Carménère based blend that brings vibrance and complexity. This blend comes from selected blocks of our vineyard, with very low productions and precision handling, which translates into a wine with the same strength and character as our father.

Vintage

First harvest: 2018

2018 vintage: 68% Carménère, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot.

Ageing

100% of the wine was aged during 18 months in new french oak barrels.

Winemaker’s comments

Intense and very deep red – purple colour, this complex blend based in Carménère stars with aromas that remaind black fruit, dried plum and candied fruit. There is also a note of paprika, sweet spice, cigar box and graphite.On the palate, Guillermo 2018 has a very soft entrance, displaying juiciness and good acidity with great persistence, body and a long finish. This wine promises a lengthy and interesting evolution in the bottle.
