85% Carménère, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec
Vitrum Carménère is a wine that captures the complexity and elegance of this grape variety in the coastal terroir of the Maipo Valley. It comes from granite slopes with decomposing rocks and sandy loam-textured foothills. The climate, with its morning mist from the Pacific influence, allows for slow ripening, ideal for developing the aromatic complexity of the variety.
The grapes are harvested by hand during the first week of May. Vinification is a meticulous process: after a cold maceration, the wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels of first, second and third use, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and achieves full integration.
Typical of the variety, it has a deep, dark carmine color. The nose displays complex aromas of black fruit such as blackberries and plums, red bell pepper and chocolate, with soft spicy notes. The palate has a smooth, silky texture with firm, ripe tannins. It is a concentrated wine, with lots of black fruit and a long, fresh and persistent finish. We recommend decanting and serving at 15 to 16°C, ideal for a beef stew with potatoes or a tenderloin stir-fry.
